Moods, 3.6.2018

Five musicians

Four classic jazz instruments

Three strings

Two basses

One oud

And to fill in some names : François Lindemann piano and composition, Amine Mraihi oud, Heiri Känzig bass, Pierre-François Massy bass, Olivier Clerc drums

A Swiss-French composer who finally came to play the Moods, first time for him and he’s been around for a while and more often around the world than across the Röschtigraben. Another proof that it sometimes needs a while to cross over to the other side of this small country.

The unusual set up was very much to my liking. The oud brought this particular voice to the set, another tone, another atmosphere. I particularly liked the incredible dialogues between piano and oud. Very interesting, different and so worth the listening to. Great concert, great set-up and of course : great music.
