Guthrie Govan – magic guitar, Marco Minneman – three drummers in one, and Brian Beller – the bass you would not want to miss for anything make up The Aristocrats. Bought the ticket eons ago as I had appreciated them before. And last night, one word popped up in my mind during this concert : Spielfreude, i.e. the joy to make music on stage. It was definitely a great concert, quite intense and simply a pleasure.
I count this band among one of my more recent discoveries, they are called supergroup, as they found out that after one rehearsal they actually were a band, but their webpage and wikipedia tell you more about that anyway. And honestly, I think they are a super group, if I may say so, because their sound and the fact that the speed, rhythm and their accomplished playing of the instruments is all about enjoying the moment and about not spoiling it with unnecessary vocals. Just the odd story in between, but that’s making it fun too. Some of the stories are new, some already heard, and then again, hey, that bloody Kentucky meat-shower is just one of my favourites anyway. And why not, plastic pigs and chicken to make sounds too?
Ah, the pleasure and the fun was in the present of last night. A decent and quite high barred opening for the club-concert season of the oncoming autumn and winter.
